Mitch Tobias and his Favorite Band
The November 15th, 1999 performance at the Bayfront Theater in San Francisco was received extremely well. We'll have to do it again there. The finale featured an extended version of "Munchkins", fully equipped with a slamming Gilligan's theme at the tail end. "A strong crescendo!" said the lighting engineer. Extended jams, solos and stories about the tunes all made for an energetic and amicable evening. Wish you could have been there if you weren't.
As you may have noticed, it's a pretty large ensemble on the record, and we don't like to cut corners live. As a result, the group isn't playing on a regular basis as of yet. But please stay in touch, as Spring will see and hear lively versions of Chronic Bliss songs as well as new material. For real. We will be playing this year so please stay in touch - and get on the damn mailing list. For guitar freaks > When playing live, Mitch's guitar rig is as follows: A Gibson ES-125TC (one P-90) and a custom Carruther's contemporary strat model (w/ dual humbuckers and a single coil in the center) played through a rackmounted Soldano 100W head and the Soldando X99 tube midi pre-amp. For reverb and mild effects he employs the Rocktron Intellifex. The signal then goes to a Soldano 4x12 cabinet with Soldano speakers installed. On the floor, the Ground Control foot pedal is there to visit pre-sets, a Cry Baby Wah Wah pedal and the DOD Envelope Filter. The acoustic is a Yamaha FG -335II with thin line pickup in it which sounds terrible. Anyone have any suggestions? I run it through the Soldano, roll off the high end and bring up the low. |
